Mask: Itchy or Irritated Scalp?
Calming Scalp Mask: For Itchy or Irritated Scalps
A quick and easy way to treat an irritated/itchy scalp at home.
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp witch hazel (alcohol-free preferred – anti-inflammatory, astringent)
- 1 tbsp aloe vera gel (pure, uncolored – soothing, hydrating, anti-microbial)
- ½ ripe avocado, whipped (raw – rich in fats, vitamin E, scalp barrier repair)
- ¼ tsp salicylic acid powder or 1 crushed aspirin tablet (exfoliates dead skin, unclogs follicles)
How to Mix:
- In a clean bowl, mash and whip the avocado until smooth.
- Stir in aloe vera gel and witch hazel.
- Add the salicylic acid (or crushed aspirin), mix until fully dissolved.
- Optional: Add 2–3 drops of tea tree or peppermint essential oil for added antimicrobial and cooling effect (if your scalp tolerates it).
How to Use:
- Apply gently to dry or damp scalp, section by section.
- Massage lightly with your fingertips (no nails!).
- Leave on for 15–20 minutes.
- Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water, followed by a gentle shampoo if needed.
⚠️ Notes:
- Use 1–2x per week for scalp flare-ups, not daily.
- Always patch test on a small scalp area if you’re prone to sensitivity.
- Store unused mixture in fridge for up to 48 hours (air-tight container).
