Mask: Itchy or Irritated Scalp?

Calming Scalp Mask: For Itchy or Irritated Scalps

A quick and easy way to treat an irritated/itchy scalp at home.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp witch hazel (alcohol-free preferred – anti-inflammatory, astringent)
  • 1 tbsp aloe vera gel (pure, uncolored – soothing, hydrating, anti-microbial)
  • ½ ripe avocado, whipped (raw – rich in fats, vitamin E, scalp barrier repair)
  • ¼ tsp salicylic acid powder or 1 crushed aspirin tablet (exfoliates dead skin, unclogs follicles)

How to Mix:

  1. In a clean bowl, mash and whip the avocado until smooth.
  2. Stir in aloe vera gel and witch hazel.
  3. Add the salicylic acid (or crushed aspirin), mix until fully dissolved.
  4. Optional: Add 2–3 drops of tea tree or peppermint essential oil for added antimicrobial and cooling effect (if your scalp tolerates it).

How to Use:

  1. Apply gently to dry or damp scalp, section by section.
  2. Massage lightly with your fingertips (no nails!).
  3. Leave on for 15–20 minutes.
  4. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water, followed by a gentle shampoo if needed.

⚠️ Notes:

  • Use 1–2x per week for scalp flare-ups, not daily.
  • Always patch test on a small scalp area if you’re prone to sensitivity.
  • Store unused mixture in fridge for up to 48 hours (air-tight container).
